ASC’s management takes responsibility for quality control by playing an active role in our report card program.  All levels of management are involved in documenting customer requirements, assessing capabilities to meet requirements, and conducting follow-up reviews to ensure compliance. ASC adjusters have a minimum of five years’ experience, while claim supervisors average fifteen years and management team members average twenty-five years. This experience is strengthened by our commitment to continuing industry education. We firmly believe that professional development is fundamental to our continued success, as is the value we bring to our customers in the form of collective corporate claims knowledge.


Glenn Backus, President

Glenn Backus currently serves as President of Alternative Service Concepts (ASC), a national third party administrator (TPA) headquartered in Nashville, Tennessee.  He joined ASC in 2002 as an Account Executive then promoted to Senior Vice President of Sales & Marketing in 2006 and President in 2013.   

Mr. Backus has almost twenty years’ experience in the insurance industry, primarily from a technology and claims aspect.  Mr. Backus started his career at Corporate Systems where he worked with Fortune 1000 employers, insurance carriers and third party administrators to automate processes and deliver risk information to employers enabling them to better manage their risk.  Prior to joining ASC, Mr. Backus worked for Marsh, developing claims management and reporting solutions for TPA’s, insurance carriers, brokers, pools and associations.   

Mr. Backus holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Management from West Texas State University and an MBA in Financial Services from The University of Dallas.

Pam Finch, Chief Operations Officer

Ms. Finch currently serves as Chief Operations Officer for Alternative Service Concepts, (ASC).  In this capacity, she oversees the claim operations as well as vendor relations.  She joined ASC in 2002 and is domiciled in the corporate office in Nashville. 

Ms. Finch has 34 years of multi-line insurance experience, adjusting and supervising claims as well as management of staff across much of the United States. Prior to joining ASC, she held various positions at CNA and St. Paul Insurance Companies where duties included, adjustment of claims and management of employees, while meeting the specific goals and objectives of individual customers.   

Ms. Finch has participated in a number of industry-related courses and seminars throughout the course of her career, involving all lines of coverage, as well as personnel management.  Her overall knowledge base for developing and managing a successful claims operation has been acquired by her 34 years spent in the insurance industry.   


Carolyn Adkins, Chief Financial Officer

Ms. Carolyn Adkins currently serves as Chief Financial Officer for Alternative Service Concepts, (ASC). In this capacity, she oversees accounting for ASC as well as for various ASC clients. She is domiciled in the corporate office in Nashville. Prior to the formation of ASC, Ms. Adkins worked for Willis Administrative Services for three years.

Prior to joining ASC, Ms. Adkins worked for a public accounting firm and several private organizations. She served in the tax department at Arthur Anderson and held positions with service and consulting companies in Memphis and Nashville. Ms. Adkins’ experience with these organizations encompassed all aspects of accounting.

Ms. Adkins holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Accounting from the University of Memphis.
